The ATA State Laws Newsletter is a weekly publication that covers state and federal tax and credentialing issues of interest to the trucking industry. Written and edited by Bob Pitcher, ATA’s Vice President, State Laws, the newsletter focuses on developments in the International Registration Plan, International Fuel Tax Agreement, the new Unified Carrier Registration Agreement, and state tax legislation and regulations affecting motor carriers. State and federal court decisions in tax matters will be noted on occasion, as well as changes in federal excise tax requirements. Once a quarter, the ATA State Laws Newsletter will include a compilation of state and provincial fuel tax rates. It is not intended as a comprehensive guide to these areas, but will provide the industry with early information on significant developments in these areas that may not be readily available elsewhere.
